NABIP Actions to Protect Medicare Guidance and Community Contributions 
There have been over 170 respondents to the Medicare agent and broker survey so far! Respond to the survey and make your thoughts known!  
After significant demand, we've launched a new survey specifically for Medicare beneficiaries, which already has over 50 responses. Please share with your clients! 
 
NABIP staff attended the Senate Finance Committee's 9/17 hearing on the Inflation Reduction Act. We will be submitting a statement for the record in response to the hearing that advocates for consumers and the agents and brokers who serve them, pointing out both the successes and unintended consequences of the legislation and rollout.

Medicare agents and brokers! We’ve heard from and connected with many of you in the last two weeks in light of some health plans looking to discontinue Medicare prescription drug (Part D) agent compensation. We hear and share your frustration and the significant concerns that you have about the impacts these decisions have on your clients and your ability to serve them.
  
We want to share more with you on how NABIP is standing firm in protecting your interests and the communities we serve:
  • Immediate NABIP public statement following the decision, with 130 news outlets across the U.S. amplifying NABIP’s position and members’ concerns. 
  • An all-member letter sent via email to NABIP members on August 30th, echoing NABIP’s commitment to you and your clients. 
  • CEO Jessica Brooks-Woods reached out directly to WellCare and Centene leadership uplifting our members’ concerns and frustrations. 
  • Two new surveys to translate agents and beneficiaries feedback directly into immediate advocacy efforts in Washington and communications throughout the industry and community. 
  • Testimony submitted to the Senate Finance Committee in response to their 9/17 hearing on the Inflation Reduction Act. Our response advocates for consumers and the agents and brokers who serve them, pointing out successes and unintended consequences of the legislation and rollout.
  • Register for two upcoming Medicare Legislative 101 webinars to learn more about how Medicare rules and regulations are created and the timeline for influencing legislative and regulatory change. Hosted by NABIP’s Medicare Advisory Group! 
 
Get involved in important ongoing NABIP activity:
  • We need your stories! These testimonials and data points are critical to continue to effectively advocate on your behalf immediately and throughout the year. This survey will be available throughout AEP. 
  • Schedule meetings with your state & federal lawmakers and state insurance commissioners. NABIP has a podcast on how to set up and prepare for lawmaker meetings. Establishing long-term relationships with your representatives is critical when raising healthcare issues impacting your clients and your business. 
  • Save the date for the upcoming Capitol Conference! February 23 - 26, 2025 in Washington, DC. This is the best opportunity to get in front of your lawmakers and put a real face and story to the important work you are all doing. Uplift the narrative that agents and brokers matter!   • Spread the word with your networks! Check our social media pages on LinkedIn and Instagram for content you can share. NABIP members have already been quoted in numerous publications, further elevating the importance of the issue.
  • Support the PACPAC contributions ensure the necessary education and continued representation needed at the table during the proposal and discussion of legislation.
